Computer systems that are, for example, used to control production processes or building infrastructure are usually connected to the local network or even the Internet.
Because of their unique properties, embedded systems have special security requirements, however, the ability to perform an comprehensive security analysis is limited in many cases. It is a common procedure, in the embedded system sector, that foreign components from third-party producers are integrated although their security properties are unknown.
