Dr. Bastian Könings will give a talk at the AnwendertageDigitalisierung2026 . The event takes place from 7 to 9 July 2026 at Kloster Roggenburg and offers practical workshops on various aspects of digitalisation.

Understanding and recognising cyber threats

Cyberattacks are part of everyday life for companies today, regardless of industry or size. In his talk on 8 July, Dr. Bastian Könings gives an overview of the current threat landscape and shows with practical examples how attackers operate.

The focus is on social engineering attacks such as phishing and deception with AI-generated deepfakes. Participants will learn:

• what the current threat landscape looks like and which attack methods are in circulation.
• how social engineering attacks work and why they are so effective.
• how to recognise phishing attempts.
• what role AI-generated deepfakes play in attacks.
• which measures companies can take to protect themselves.

The talk targets professionals across all corporate departments who deal with IT security or are responsible for raising employee awareness.

About the speaker

Dr. Bastian Könings is Managing Consultant at SCHUTZWERK GmbH. He regularly conducts penetration tests and security analyses and advises companies on the implementation of security measures. He earned his doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Ulm.
